| so im just going to use my email to my friend anna since it愀 pretty much an update on my travels! --
yeah i think i miss home now... after a while traveling gets boring..
its just another cathedral, and another town, blah! hehehe im ready for
some cali sunshine and wear my clothes again! hahah u get so sick of
wearing the same two pairs of pants wen you愉e lviing outta a backpack!
:)
me and gary are better... we have our ups and downs... yeah i
think we both are looking forward to going home and having our own
lives again.. i htink even marriage isnt htis hard because you arent
literally together 24/7. u at least can go somewhere else and chill
wiht ur friends or call someone or go home to your parents.
as far as working here, i think it would be really cool...
but its hard cuz a lot of countries you cant really build a career.
spaniards are barely even expected to have a career till theyre like
30. they just party and work at a bar or something. everything is
always closed in spain cuz these ppl just dont really work! so itd be
cool if i had parents here... cuz then i could just chill and not be
expected to work so hard like in the states.. in the states its like
we愉e defined by our jobs. if you dont work straight outta college u愉e
like a loser!

| ...about updating this. ack! so how many places has it been? right now we're in brussels. and before that amsterdam (yes, we got high...), berlin (so freaking cold), rome (i LOVE rome. almost found a job and stayed forever!), florence, bologna, and munich. Brussels, Belgium Ahh the beer and chocolates. About the only things that are cheap here. Meals were so expensive we resorted to eating ramen to save money again. haha... welcome to the ghetto lifestyle. First night here we went to this Delirium Cafe (their cafes are actually pubs, there was no coffee in there) where they have over 2000 beers. Belgium beer is strong! I had like 2 beers and was already tipsy. Next day we went about trying all the chocolates around town (which was a lot). I actually REFUSED free chocolate cuz i had so much. You actually start wishing you had a cup of milk with you. Amsterdam, The Netherlands Ahhh, good old Amsterdam. My first impression was that it looked like disneyland with vegas-type shops. The cute little Dutch houses sitting one right after another expect with Magic Mushroom shops, "coffee" (i.e. weed) shops, and the Red Light District. What a fascinating place. It actually wasn't seedy at all, but very safe and cute. The legalised prostitutes actually made things seem more clean, although most of the girls we saw weren't very attractive. We have heard that there are really pretty ones. Gary and I just decided that maybe all the pretty ones were working so only the ugly ones were in their windows looking all bored. Berlin, Germany A place with so much complexity and history. It's no wonder Rel loves this place so much. For me, it was a little too cold - at night it was snowing lightly. But ... ahh more on berlin later. time to go to Barcelona! more sunshine yay! :) | | |
| We've finally reached the Romanian ghettos (after a combined 32+ hr
ferry plus train ride)! Even though this city doesn't have all that
much to offer, what's wonderful about it is being able to see family.
I'm totally a family-type person, so not being with family for so long
makes me miss them like crazy. Rel seems to be doing well, despite all
the slimey men that harrass her, the gypsies that try to rip her off,
and the chaotic drivers that try to run her over. It's so amazing, the
tenacity that she has, to pursue her dreams and passion
regardless of the conditions. I think being here with her and actually
seeing everything has helped us to understand her life here, if a
little more.
On the upside, Romanian produce is all organic and cheap! Grown
straight from their backyards. We bought so much food for today for
like 3 bucks only. Gary, the master chef, cooked Rel a hearty
home-cooked meal of Greek salad, chicken pasta, wine, and ice cream
sandwiches for dessert! Pofta buna!
Anyways since I'm not the most expressive writer, I'll just upload pics
to show you guys what we've been up too. Yay for free internet! :)
Boat tour of the Seine River in Paris

Moules Frites (mussels & fries) in Biarritz, FR
On the rocky beaches of Nice, FR

Monaco, FR

At the Parthenon of the Acropolis in Athens, GR

Gary's Favorite: Gyros and Mythos
Well, that's it for now folks! (Xanga's upload takes too long! :) More to come later!!!

| Hi I'm back (in an internet cafe that is... hahah cuz gary's such a
nerd ;)!!! Right now we're on the party island, Ios. I really need to
start uploading my pics to spruce this baby up (yeah you like my
cheesiness) but ill probably have to wait till i get to rel's place in
romania. we get there next week. i can't wait to see her. that girl has
been re-conquesting the old world (as her spanish lover has so
eloquently put it)! i get so worried about her bc apparently romania is
pretty darn ghetto. rel was attacked at nite by guys trying to steal
her purse. luckily nothing really bad has happened but of course she's
emotionally traumatized and hopefully nothing will happen again. it
just feels so terrible to be so helpless and all you can do is worry :T
ok my time is up so i'll have to update next time! miss you guys back
at home too! :) it's always so nice to hear back from you... :)!!!
